We drove over from Liberty Lake with our house half packed, on New Year’s Eve. The kids all fell asleep before we hit the pass and we drove into Seattle at about 11:40. Perfect, we thought. We could swing by Dicks off 45th and grab some fries and such, eat our goods while we drove around the Gasworks side of Lake Union to catch a view of the fireworks off the Space Needle. The kids would all be sleeping. Fun, right? Of course it was a foiled plan! Willow woke when I got out at Dick’s and started crying. Jack’s infamous nose smelled our fries. “What is that?” grumbled the sleepy giant. Bummer. We headed back north to Mukilteo, sharing our limited goods with Jack and hoping Willow’s cries wouldn’t wake the last sleeping giant. We still watched the fireworks – on Grandma Thorne’s DVR taping. The next morning we sat around the TV in our pj’s and watched the rose parade and enjoyed a fantastic breakfast from Grandma.
